So much good here, people enjoying a day on the water, the promise of a beautiful day in the only slightly gray clouds and sunshine. The perseverance of the flag, still flying beautifully in the wind, its tattered edges making it more beautiful, more well-loved than it would if it were in perfect condition; it is a reflection of life as it is actually lived..a bit ragged at times, but still beautiful.

Thanks, Rosemarie. I think the boat was pretty full! Of course there was my tribe (husband, 3 kids and my twin cousins) helping the numbers stack up...

There's heaps of goodness here!

~ I could feel the excitement of the passengers approaching the island.
~ The tattered flag says pride of country.
~ There are other passengers on the boat so if there's trouble you can grab a buddy quick!

Thank you both, Shelly and Nancy, for your lovely comments. I certainly enjoyed joining in, and I'll make a point of doing so from now on! I think one of the things that I like about the frayed edging of the flag is that it emphasises that it's a working flag. In all weathers (and believe me, Scotland gets a lot of weather!) that flag will be flying, and that thought fills me with a certain amount of pride. I like to think it's symbolic of the stoicism and the determination of the Scottish people. I may be romanticising it a bit, but if you can't romanticise on your own blog, where can you!?

This is a beautiful photo! And you're right that the frayed edges of the flag, fluttering against the sky, paints a stirring picture. There's lots that is good in this photo...the pristine water, a summer sky, the excitement of approaching an island! A family outing on a summer afternoon? It's all good!

Thanks for joining in...I've added a link to your site on the OTG home page. :)

Both photos are intriguing. The island in the distance calls "adventure" to me. I like the shadings of the clouds. Who knew there were that many shades of gray? Calm water is something I enjoy (I can almost hear it lapping against the boat. The Scottish flag? Though I hate to see it frayed, it's lovely. Though frayed, the flag endures.
Thanks for playing along! I'll go link you!
