Lavender Cup Cakes

I’ve been admiring the lavender currently flowering in my garden. Every year we have it abundance, and I never do anything with it. Whilst it looks beautiful, and makes the garden smell lovely, I always feel as though I should be putting it to use! So, yesterday I was delighted to find on the blog Cream Puffs in Venice a recipe for Lavender Cup Cakes. While over in France this July, I tried some rose ice cream, and am now converted to the use of flowers in desserts! I’m going to try the cup cakes out next week. Will let you know how I get on.

Hope the cupcakes turn out beautifully!

Thank you, Ivonne. I was going to post the results, but keep in mind that I will probably be making them with three overly enthusiastic children, so my results will more than likely be nowhere near as beautiful as yours!

I tried rose ice-cream in France. Didn’t like it! I think the best think is to watch flowers and contemplate their beauty. Put some in a vase maybe and decorate your room, or give some to your dad. My sister calls me Lavender Blue and she is Lavender Green 🙂 It’s borrowed from Marillion’s song Lavender. A great tune.

You didn’t like the rose ice cream!? I had it with a slice of poppy seed cake at a wonderful cafe in Montolieu, just outside Carcassonne. The lady who owned the cafe said there was a lavender flavour too. Have you tried that one? I love having flowers round the house, but they are so expensive to buy. I’ll need to grow some more in the garden! I haven’t heard the Marillion song – I’ll check it out.
