Only The Good – Flag

Over at The Eclectic Life, Shelly has a post called Only The Good – An Aloof Visitor as part of the Only The Good project. As I had never heard of the project, and was intrigued, I followed up the link to the project and discovered that it’s all about posting a seemingly ordinary photograph on your blog and asking people to comment on what they can see that is good about it. The Only The Good blog states that:

“It’s an idea that could make a difference in our world–or at least the way we see it–if only enough people adopted this simple philosophy into all aspects of their lives. If it doesn’t change your world, it can certainly change your day.”

So taking up this idea, I’ve gone back through some of my old photos to see if I could find one that would do. I came up with this one:

This photo wasn’t actually taken by me, but by someone in my family. My husband took the kids to Inchcolm Abbey which is on an island in the Firth of Forth, and this was one of the photos downloaded from the camera when they got home. To be honest I think I kind of skipped over it when I first saw it; distracted by the heads in the foreground, perhaps! But as I started to zoom in on parts of it using iPhoto I started to find all sorts of great things about it. Here’s one of the photos which has resulted from my playing around:

I love this photo of the Scottish flag, it’s frayed edge against the cloudy sky. I find it quite stirring, in fact!
