Photography Experiment

I haven’t posted since Thursday, as my husband and I went away for the weekend to Edinburgh to celebrate our birthdays and our anniversary. We were staying in Haymarket, and so we wandered down towards the path that accompanies the Water of Leith and followed it as far as Newhaven. For those of you who know Edinburgh, that’s a pretty long walk! It was made even longer by the fact that I stopped every 30 seconds to take another photograph. Over the next couple of days I’ll be posting some of the photos that I took on that walk, but for today’s post I want to show you some of the photos that I played with when I got back home. What I’ve done is I’ve switched the image from colour to black and white, and then I’ve played with the contrast, brightness, saturation etc, until I got an effect that I was pleased with. Anyway, I hope you like them, as I certainly had fun both taking them and altering them afterwards! Let me know what you think…

Those are far more effective for being in black and white. You are really a very clever photographer.

Thank you so much, Nicholas. Your kind words mean so much to me. I enjoy taking photographs, but that others enjoy them too is a wonderful bonus.

The top one is definitely my favourite. It would be really interesting to see the original one to see what a difference the changes have made. I agree with Nicolas though – you take great photographs.

I hope you both had a wonderful weekend away. You deserve some time to yourselves!

We did have a lovely weekend away, Autumn Song, and as you know those weekends don’t come around very often! As for see the difference between the colour and te black and white versions, if you watch the slideshow that I’ve just posted, you’ll see the original colour image of some of the photos posted here. Thank you once again for your always encouraging words!
